Alyssa Oxley

The Box Class!!!

$850

In 4 fast paced days, explore two methods of constructing kilnformed boxes with lids.
We will cut sheet glass and, using forms and fiber papers, create two boxesand the lids to go with each. By creating a recess in the lids, we have the opportunity to showcase a special piece of glass or a pattern bar we will make.  We will be using Bullseye COE 90 in this class but schedules will also be given for 96 users.

If time allows, to round out our thicker fiber paper experience, we will make a small wall piece, like the box lids, designed to lend focus to a 2-layer design we will create.

Coldworking will be integral to our work and give the finish it deserves.

Alyssa Oxley has been working with kilnformed and cast glass for about 15 years. She has experience in commercial art, interior and graphic design and despite her paying jobs, has always maintained an active, independent fine art studio of her own.
Her current work in glass is strongly driven by time spent outside, along Otter Creek near her home in Vermont, or walking the school campus abutting her property.
Oxley learned a lot of what she knows about glass working in the Kremer Glass Studio in Pound Ridge, New York. She currently teaches kilnforming glass classes at South End Glass at Davis Studio in Burlington, and summer intensives in places like the Corning Museum of Glass Studio, Snow Farm Craft School and Helios Glass Studio.
More of Alyssa's work and her CV are available on her website: www.alyssaoxley.com.
