Class Deposit Required to Secure Space:
50% deposit by check made payable to "Laurie Spray" is required to hold your space. You are requested to send a separate check for each class with a note on the check indicating the class name and date to assure proper credit.  Email to bkpottery@aol.com to notify us of your interest in a spot.

Vitrigraph Cane Workshop

Fri March 31, Sat April 1, Sun April 2    (10AM to 5 PM)

Cost:  $580

(includes all materials and lunch!)

After learning different techniques to load your vitrigraph stainless steel pots, you will be pulling 2 large sets of cane in this class!  You will also be creating 2 good sized fused pieces learning how to build in stainless steel formers after chopping the cane that you created. These pieces will be full fused and ready to cold work on day 3.  They then will be taken home to slump or drop as you want.  There will be a demo of a drop ring murrini piece.  On day 3 in the morning we will pull some vitrigraph as we are waiting for the final kiln firings to cool.  We will be using COE 96 in class but schedules for 90 will also be given.  No glass experience is necessary.  You will be handling hot glass in a safe environment.  This class will be limited to 8 students. We provide lunch.

Want to create thick glass panels that have great dimension and depth?

In this 4-day class, students will learn how to apply enamel to glass layers, and then stack and fuse these layers into solid panels.  Topics covered include design and image selection, layout, discussion of enamels and how they respond to fusing temperatures, painting medium, how to mix and apply enamels, fusing schedules, bubble control, kiln loading instructions, and finishing techniques.  Although drawing and painting experience is helpful, it is not required. Prior kiln-work experience is required, however.

Students will complete several initial exercises, and 2-3 additional projects during this class, and are encouraged to choose and bring to the class printed images for compositions they would like to use for these projects.  Important image selection guidelines will be provided prior to class.

In this fast paced 4 day class we are going to do everything from Silk Screening, Powder Printing, Stencils, Butterflies, Colorizing Sepia Prints and we will explore the different enamels. We will also pull some vitrigraph to use in your finished pieces.   We have bought a ton of glass and we will be making many finished products in this class. I guarantee a great time!!  All materials and Lunch included.... $950

In this fast paced 2 day class you will learn all of the tricks of combing hot glass. This will be hands on manipulating hot glass in a safe environment.  Each student will be learning how to construct the glass for successful combing.   50% deposit to hold your space.

Reverse Glass Painting Using Opaque Enamels

$650     all materials included

Take your glass art in a new and exciting direction.  Enamel painting on glass is a fun way to use clear glass to create unique, stunning and surprisingly detailed images.  Opaque glass enamels have a bright luminosity and reflective quality all their own.  Unlock the secrets to mixing Fusemaster high fire opaque enamels with both oil and water mediums, working in reverse, the texturing style of grisaille and the stages of applying colored enamels, layering glass and firing to a finished piece.  We will begin with your drawing, sketch or reference photo and over three and a half days use Cheryl’s multi-stage techniques to create your piece of art.  The focus of this class is on the technical skills so you will be able to take your knowledge home to develop your glass painting style.  Each student will complete a 6” tile or bowl as well as practice pieces.     Skills Learned ::     Reverse layering techniques, brush painting with enamels, grisaille painting, mixing oil and water mediums with enamels, smooth application of enamel color, successful firing schedules for multi-stage paintings.

In this fast paced 3 day class you will make 3 separate projects in 3 days.  This one is for experienced fusers with glass cutting experience.  The first day we will be making a Human Form Sculpture. 2 Stands will be included in the class.  The second day will be a tree sculpture.  the third day will be all about leaves.
